Computerised Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
What is CMMS?
A CMMS, or Computerised Maintenance Management Software, maintains a computerised database of Asset, Inventory, and Labour information within an organisation. This information is designed to help maintenance workers manage their maintenance more effectively by being able to see all the information about an asset in the one location. This includes parts that are used on that asset, as well as which Stock Room these parts are kept and how many are currently on-hand in that Stock Room. This data is often also used to help verify Statutory Regulation compliance.
In capital-intensive industries like Oil & Gas, Process/Discrete Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Resort/Hotels, physical assets (buildings, infrastructure, and equipment) form a large proportion of the total assets within an organisation. These industries deal with highly valued assets and equipment where each failure can be very costly and results in disruption to the business. It is for these reasons that an organisation must be able to effectively manage the maintenance of their assets.
A CMMS Includes:
· Work Order Tracking
· Asset / Equipment Management
· Preventative Maintenance Scheduling
· Inventory Control
· Integrated Report Writer
Why is CMMS important?
Organisations are often under constant pressures to minimise operating costs and streamline their asset management operations. As downtimes become increasingly expensive, both in terms of lost production capacity and unfavourable publicity, organisations are compelled to maximise their asset productive lifecycles via optimal maintenance programs.
In the event of an asset failure,it is imperative that the response time is quick. Asset registers, risk registers, work planning and scheduling, life cycle costing and systematic methods for problem identification, root cause analysis and continuous improvement are increasingly seen as prerequisites for a robust asset management system, and this is where Maintenance Connection comes in.
Why Maintenance Connection?
Maintenance Connection provides one of the most user-friendly interfaces within the CMMS industry. Being designed around the Windows Explorer layout, the interface is instantly familiar to the user, resulting in a much higher user-acceptance than other CMMS products.
Maintenance Connection provides a low-cost full-featured CMMS package. Incorporating all modules as standard, this means Maintenance Connection can grow as your organisation does, without having additional costs for extra modules.
The Web architecture of Maintenance Connection enables users to access information stored in their application over any Internet or Intranet connection. This gives everyone from the CEO to the plant manager a way to stay connected to every facet of operations. And, unlike Web-enabled software, which requires the purchase of software for each client computer and offers limited operating interactions, Web-architected products offer significant benefits— reduced IT expenses, a foundation of continuous, consolidated technology, and rapid return on investment.
In addition, Web architecture enables companies to create cross enterprise visibility, allowing companies to share information between divisions, locations and systems. This flexibility helps to create greater efficiencies at the enterprise level rather than just on a group-only basis. Web-based applications like Maintenance Connection are widely proven to be more easily implemented, are cheaply supported and administered, and more usable for end-users than legacy client server applications.
